Superhumans are made, not imported from alien worlds- New Year-Fresh Opportunities series

New Year - Fresh Opportunities

“We all wish we had superpowers.

We all wish we could do more than we can do.”- Stan Lee

January is a month that feels fresh.  With the new year comes intense motivation to take on a superhuman cape, aim high and reach for the stars.  Inspirational quotes and resolutions abound.

How’s that working out for you?

I suspect you feel like you may be coming up short like 43% of people who expect to fail before February, or the one in four who quit within the first week of setting their New Year’s resolution. It is so common for people to quit on the second Friday of the month, that Strava, a Running and Cycling tracking app, named this day “Quitters Day”.

Mastering the mindset that creates habits that stick is challenging.

Rather than wandering down the Woe-is-Me path and beating yourself up for having the self-discipline of a two year old, look at the 9% who stick to them successfully.  What makes one in ten people capable of staying motivated?  And how do we use that motivation to focus on our desired superhuman capability?

We excel at and transform according to what we do repeatedly.

I recently witnessed the results of one of the 9%. Behind the counter at a Kona cafe, stood a young woman taking my order who caught my attention.  She had the most incredibly powerful body I had seen in my lifetime. She was clearly capable of being a professional athlete but was likely currently a student.

She looked me in the eye as I asked her what she did.  “Swim,”  She said simply.  “I swim and surf every day. “ I’m quite sure she gets asked this question often because her transformation created muscle tone laid over a frame that would slay almost any wave or current she came across. Feeling I was in the company of a legend, I simply whispered, ” Wow,”  and nodded with a smile.

We must first decide what transformation we want and keep our eye on our destination to stay on course.

She had a practice that led her to the rising sun and the crash of waves every morning. A practice she adopted as her body was developing which had a profound impact on what it became. We often notice the results of a practice that leads to greatness, but do not witness the work.

Having the persistence to show up every morning and train towards greatness requires consistency. Few stay committed to the transformation we desire.  We want it now and get overwhelmed by the volume of steps from where we are now to that place we want to be.  Billions of distractions in our modern landscape pull at our attention and we dive toward them for a myriad of reasons, if we are honest.

It is possible to achieve the transformation you seek with a deeper understanding of human behavior around habits and strategic methods.  The PLANS method (https://www.agileintellectneuro.com/plans-workshop-series) is based on the four basic laws of human behavior.  It creates the framework for reaching your desired transformation.

Learning is only truly empowered when the concepts are not only understood but utilized.  The greatest information in the world is routinely lost before it ever has a chance to make an impact.

What transformation do you seek?

It’s entirely possible to be one of the 9%, but far more likely to be achieved with a helping hand.   I would be honored to help you achieve your goals beyond January 2023.  Schedule a virtual coffee chat with any questions.
