Time is one of our most valuable assets.

Whether working as your own boss or in a corporate role, strong time management skills make room for time prosperity.  As we plan a new year, incorporating the best habit systems can be highly effective.

The allure of entrepreneurship is often centered around the flexibility to create your own schedule, but this freedom can be quickly extinguished in the volume of responsibilities.  Those who have the freedom to design their own schedule can easily fall into disorganization or be overwhelmed without a framework.   Depending on your personality, strengths, and weaknesses, setting up a system to organize your time can create an incredibly powerful execution strategy.

I love reading about the journey of successful leaders.  Recently subscribing to Master Class, I have indulged in the classes of an eclectic mix of writers, comedians, wellness gurus, and business icons.   We have so much to learn from other humans.  From Malcom Gladwell to James Clear, hearing the voices of some of my favorite thought leaders gets my wheels turning.

Love her or hate her, Martha Stewart is impressive.  She was featured on the Sports Illustrated cover at 82 years old after building her empire starting at age 50.  When she described how she has done this, I realized how carefully she manages her time.  With a daily focus initially on her own wellness, she has designed a well-oiled machine that innovates, evolves, and grows.

Not everyone is interested in creating a multi-billion dollar company, but the lesson for me was how she did it.  She rises at 5 AM with a clear idea of the day ahead.  Her first set of  tasks includes a strength and fitness routine.  When she launches into her day, she knows exactly what she wants to accomplish and collaborates with brilliant minds to make it happen.

My aunt who worked decades in an executive suite also had dedicated time for wellness and is going strong as she heads into her eighties.  Quality longevity requires attention to physical, mental, and financial fitness on a daily basis.

Effective time management is not easy, or everyone would be doing it.

This month,  I’m going to dedicate my focus to an analysis of the most effective time management systems used by top leaders.  Whether you have a full staff to help you or are a solopreneur, creating your own unique time management system will put you in a position of opportunity.  To fully employ your unique genius requires the mental space to fully address the work in front of you as well as welcome great new opportunities.

Imagine what you could accomplish with consistent clarity in the direction of your day with a willingness to adapt, delegate effectively, and innovate.

I hope you’ll circle back as I dive in!  Stay tuned…
